Yay!!

successfully completed my teaching block yesterday.

what a great last day with my 4/5's

some kids gave me gifts, cards, and even made me a song...they were really sad I was leaving...they didn't want me to go. They made a huge class card too.

MC & KC got me a gift as well...how sweet of them. the funny part of the gift was they gave me a fairy outfit - complete with a fairy wand, fairy "shoes" and my very own fairy wings. there's a long story behind this but won't get into it. they made me change into it for the afternoon and then the kids paraded me through the school. lol it was fun but quite embarassing as well. it may come into use for my next block since i'll be getting a primary grade but probably won't ever use it as part of my teaching style...not me i guess. fun while it lasted.

bittersweet

tomorrow is my last day of teaching at HV. i can't believe it's the end of block 1 already...feels like it was just yesterday when we started. okay a fibbed a little, I can believe it...even though this has been a really great experience i'm definitely looking forward to a break not looking at those silly curriculum documents, writting lessons plans on silly templates that we'll never use, making up worksheets or tests and the constant reflection of every little thing i do.

overall it has been a great teaching block. i've learned a lot from my associate teachers...a lot about the curriculum expectations...a lot about the inner workings of the school and most importantly a lot about my self and what Im capable of doing. I received pretty good evals from my faculty advisor and from both my associates....no surprises thankfully. I think after having such a tough placement...i deserve the pretty good evals...haha! Like MC said, if they got another teacher candidate, they think they would have buckled under the pressure and demands. I think very few people could handle what i did...not to rub it in but the other 5 candidates at my school had already said they would have never been able to do it.

today we had a fun day. MC wanted me to try chinese brush painting with the kids...so that's what i did today...then in the afternoon we had some drama. drama wasn't as i invisioned but oh well...tomorrow we are going to play some sharades since my double period got cut short. tomorrow should be a pretty laidback day...it is my last day...lol!

so back to my own courses at the Uni on monday...how terrible. For three days, we need to go back...couldn't they have atleast given us an extra week off. I much rather begin my christmas holidays tomorrow but noooooo. I feel like i'm being demoted...teaching for so long and then poof back to a student. I don't mind it that much...it's just having to go back there straight after our block.

anyhow i'm in the middle of making cupcakes for the kids...need to ice them...then write thank you cards for my associates.

1 week to go...

been quite a busy week for me...haven't had the time to really update.

i actually don't have much time now....preparing my lessons for the next few days which will be my last. i can't believe my block is already coming to an end.

i taught 6 periods on wednesday...then the following day i taught again for most of the day but it was followed by parent teacher interviews till 8pm. I was the last one to leave the school besides the care-taker. Thank goodness friday was a PA day...half day of interviews. I went home around noonish and i swear it had been the first time in days where i had seen sunlight. I was basking in it...cold out but pretty mild for this time of the year. still no sign of the fluffy white stuff though.

this week will be bittersweet...hope it will be a good last week.
